CCR Questions for Slumber Ends
• How do your products represent social groups or issues?
The social group that my film is representing adolescences all four girls are teenagers that are High School. The storyline likely highlights the heightened emotions and misunderstandings that often occur in adolescence. Which as we know, teenagers have a lot of things going on and a lot in their minds. Both good and bad.Which is what we explore in Slumber Ends. As the character Tessa undergoes a thrilling plan to get revenge of the issues she was going through. As she is pretending to kill herself because she wanted to get back at her friends for mistreating her and then she comes back from the dead to kill the friend who mistreated her the worse. In which the issues the film is overall circulating being Mental health , toxic friends and The Struggles of Adolescence. he film might touch on the seriousness of mental health struggles, depression, and suicidal ideation. While the character may not actually go through with suicide, the use of this theme as a form of revenge could highlight how issues like isolation, feeling misunderstood, or mistreated can lead to destructive thinking. This could serve as a commentary on how mental health is often misinterpreted or sensationalized in media. The film also has relation to how peer pressure in social groups leads people to make choices they wouldn’t normally make in a conscious state of mind, whether it's in how they treat others or in how they cope with their feelings. At its core, the film challenges the audience to ponder about empathy and the consequences of neglecting and mistreating others. Which it could represent a critique of how people sometimes dehumanize others in social gatherings and settings, ignoring their pain or suffering until it’s too late to do anything further. Slumber Ends asks viewers to consider how they treat those around them, especially those who internally suffer from their struggles.
• How do the elements of your production work together to create a sense of
‘branding’?
‘branding’?
With my production team we all worked together to create a sense of branding by basically creating methods as too how we can spread the news over a film. Being a thriller short film creates a "brand" that draws the audience into its own different world, sets expectations, and delivers a unique experience. Each component, from the visuals and sounds to the narrative and character development, builds on the others to establish an unmistakable tone and style that defines the film. With also giving information and interesting factors about the film to make the audience more intrigued to watch it. We created a postcard for example that we would send to people who were interested in watching the film as we wanted to basically have those different kinds of invitations and infographics in different forms of media, which obviously the postcard being print media. Though the world, as we know, has basically moved everything to online having this option for the audience can still get to specific people that don’t necessarily depend on everything being online and depending on their location. Though we did put a QR code that sends them directly to our website. So with that being said when it comes to everything being electronically, we created a website that gave us others detail in regard of the summary of the film itself, information of all the cast and crew and their social media handles where they can find even more information as we all would promote from our personal accounts in linked to the actual account we created on other social media platform solely just for the film. For instance on Instagram, we created a Instagram detailing about the movie and the cast called @slumber. ends ,that will give all that insight to our followers. With all the usage of the different kinds of branding, our production worked on we were able to inform a larger community of people that are not necessarily close but worldwide.
• How do your products engage with the audience?
Our products will engage to audiences as we have created a pretty immersive feel to our whole filming experience with the accessibility of it all. With the short film as mentioned before our film is mainly surrounding adolescences it does not mean that it is the intended age group for the audience to be. Not saying it is for any age though as there is some features that may be disturbing to younger children, but people of maturity can most defiantly be able to watch the film. With depicting a character experiencing betrayal, emotional pain, or aloneness, the film could invite the audience to relate to these feelings, whether through their own or by empathizing with Tessa's struggles. The audience might feel connected to the character's pain, frustration, and especially if they’ve been in situations that regard the issues that created the character to do the acts she'd done. In regard to the other products using these three products of social media accounts, a website, and postcard I created a multi-dimensional approach to a wide variety of an audience.By Social media providing real-time interaction and community-building, the website serving as an in-depth hub for content and connection. Slumber Ends leaves the audiences with lingering questions or an ambiguous ending, it encourages reflection and discussion. The audience might engage in debates or think critically about the film's message long after the movie comes to an end , extending the film's engagement beyond just the viewing experience. Lastly with postcards offering a unique and personal touch towards the recipients of them. All together, they create a durable experience with the audience that keeps them engaged at multiple touch points of the film and experience. The Cross- promotion of each product being the social media, website, and postcards.Cross-promote the others to maximize audience engagement. For instance, the postcard including a QR code that links directly to the film’s website that will drive one with more knowledge of the film. The Social media can drive to the website, where the website can offer even more information regarding the film.
• How did your research inform your products and the way they use or
challenge conventions?
challenge conventions?
My research helped my gain knowledge in the different perspectives a film can be interpreted. With the different convections my team challenged especially having that intel and examples throughout the process bettered my understanding and sense of direction for the film. For instance, my research showing that behind-the-scenes content and cast interactions are successful in engaging audiences, you can integrate that into social media posts for whatever reason that may be. Research informs every aspect of how these products are created and how they engage with conventions. With analyzing popular thriller films, I can identified common genre conventions like the use of suspense, plot twists, unreliable characters, or tense pacing. In which all this elements we incorporated to the film. Researching films like Psycho, Se7en, Gone Girl, or even more recent ones like The Invisible Man allowed me to understand the audience's expectations for a thriller Understanding what works in digital marketing with the usage of social media and the website in my case, to exploring on how to challenge traditional media forms, or ensuring sensitivity and genuine research in this genre of film into the film’s themes, research helps ensure that each product. Social media accounts, a website, and postcards is effective, intriguing, thoughtful, and innovative. By using this knowledge and ideologies people can make informed decisions about how to build meaningful connections with the film and themselves, while also challenging traditional norms of how films and their promotional materials are presented.
