Research: How to make a short film

This video provided me with great tips on how to create a great short film. One would be to write a story based on the resources you already have, it's more effective to create something with what's available to you. Another tip was crafting setups and payoffs to add depth to my narrative, making the story more engaging for the audience. Not relying on the predictable, subverting expectations was another note on building up great suspense and even a good plot twist if wanted. A great example was using silence in a potential jump-scare moment, allowing the tension to build elsewhere. Maintaining a consistent tone through camera angles, lighting, and wardrobe gives the film a sense of coherence. Sound being often neglected, is very critical to a film's success, the video provided ways to make sure that sound was incorporated such as intentional conventional sounds to the genre, suspense track or anything that adds depth. I envision that this video will help throughout the process of the filmmaking a lot. It will help me and my team include the most important components of creating a short film.
